Python strftime directive %-j

Day of the year with no leading zero. Platform-specific (Linux/macOS).

Example (from datetime(2026, 6, 18, 13, 45, 30))

This directive uses the - modifier, which is platform-specific (Linux/macOS, glibc). It is not supported on Windows.

In Python

from datetime import datetime
dt = datetime(2026, 6, 18, 13, 45, 30)
dt.strftime("%-j")
# => "169"

Other Day directives

%dDay of the month, zero-padded (01–31).%-dDay of the month with no leading zero. Platform-specific (Li%jDay of the year, zero-padded (001–366).
