Python strftime directive %-y

Year without century, no leading zero. Platform-specific (Linux/macOS).

Example (from datetime(2026, 6, 18, 13, 45, 30))

This directive uses the - modifier, which is platform-specific (Linux/macOS, glibc). It is not supported on Windows.

In Python

from datetime import datetime
dt = datetime(2026, 6, 18, 13, 45, 30)
dt.strftime("%-y")
# => "26"

%YYear with century as a decimal number.%yYear without century, zero-padded (00–99).%GISO 8601 week-based year. Use with %V and %u, never with %Y.
